A Family Business with More Than 40 Years of Experience

Expert care is at the foundation of everything we do.

RF Dogs is a family business with more than 40 years of combined experience in dog training, behavioral correction, breeding, rescue rehabilitation, daycare and boarding. Based in North Miami, Florida, with a New York location coming soon, our work is grounded in daily life with dogs, long-term study and professional certifications.

We care about outcomes that extend beyond training and into everyday life with your dog. Behavior and environment shape every part of a dog's life, and meaningful progress comes from consistency, structure and routine.

When a dog comes to RF Dogs, whether for training, daycare, boarding or rehabilitation, they become part of a family environment shaped by experience, routine and care.

We are an intentionally a small team. We do not have a large or rotating staff. The dogs in our care spend their days with the same people who get to know them.

Our team brings different backgrounds and areas of experience, but we share the same commitment to understanding each dog as an individual and providing thoughtful, consistent care.

Ricardo Felgueres

Founder and Head Trainer

Ricardo Felgueres is the founder and owner of RF Dogs. Ricardo began training his first dog at 18 years old. At 25, he got a German Shepherd, whose breeder encouraged him to show her.

Over the next 15 years, Ricardo bred and trained German Shepherds with the support of top veterinarians, gaining rare access to medical and behavioral expertise at the highest level.

Breeding became a defining experience in his career, one built on mentorship, science, and responsibility. Ricardo continues to learn every day through training that helps owners improve their relationships with their dogs. He is certified in professional dog training and behavioral correction, applying methods that prioritize clarity, consistency, structure, and respect.

Emily Felgueres

Operations Manager

Emily has spent all of her life around animals. She has competed and trained horses for years, and her background with horses has strongly influenced the way she works with dogs.

She has a deep love for all animals, but rescue and rehabilitation have always been particularly close to her heart.

At RF Dogs, Emily is involved in everything from the dogs’ daily care and training, to taking in rescues and finding them the right homes. Her approach is patient and intuitive, with an emphasis on understanding each animal as an individual.

Jesus Bernal

Driver and Dog Care Supervisor

Jesus is kind, patient and naturally caring with every dog he meets. Every dog seems to love Jesus, including dogs who are typically cautious around men. They often trust him almost immediately.

With extensive experience in grooming and dog care, Jesus continues to spend his own time learning about dogs, their behavior and the best ways to care for them. His curiosity and dedication allow him to better understand each dog as an individual.

Jesus builds a genuine relationship with every dog who stays with us. On any given day at RF Dogs, you can find him somewhere on the property with the entire pack happily following him wherever he goes.

Amaia Lutz

Driver and Dog Care Attendant

Amaia is a veterinary student with a deep love for animals. Even when she is not working, she often comes by simply to spend time with the dogs because she genuinely loves being around them.

Amaia has a natural gift for connecting with rescue dogs and dogs who may be easily misunderstood. She is patient, gentle and never rushes the process, allowing each dog to approach her in their own time. Her calm and compassionate nature helps her build deep bonds with the dogs in our care and allows them to feel safe and comfortable around her.

These qualities cannot be taught, and they are just one of the many reasons we feel so lucky to have Amaia as part of our small team.

RF Dogs offers highly individualized training and care, including private training, protection dogs, service dog training, rescue dog rehabilitation, boarding, daycare, and transportation.
We also offer boarding and daycare packages that can incorporate training, depending on the dog and the goals of the owner.
Because our work is highly personalized, services can often be tailored beyond what is listed here. If you have a specific need, please reach out—we can most likely accommodate it.
RF Dogs operates from two private, home based locations: North Miami, Florida, and North Salem, New York.
Our Miami location serves clients throughout the Miami area, while our North Salem location serves Westchester County, nearby Connecticut, and New York City. Transportation is available for select services and locations, including scheduled service to Manhattan.
Both locations follow the same small-scale, highly personalized model that defines RF Dogs.
At RF Dogs, we are true professionals. With over 40 years of experience, our methods are grounded in a deep understanding of canine behavior, psychology, and physiology. Every aspect of our program is intentional, guided by established procedures, structure, and consistency.
We believe that a calm, balanced dog is a happy dog. Every dog in our care benefits from training, whether staying for daycare, boarding, or a dedicated training program. They learn appropriate social behavior within a group, respectful play, how to settle peacefully in a crate, and when to be active and when to rest. We establish clear boundaries around excessive barking, overstimulation, and undesirable behaviors.
The transformation we see in dogs during their time in our care, whether it be for boarding, daycare, or training, is a reflection of this approach. Our carefully structured routines create an environment in which dogs can relax, develop confidence, and thrive.
We do not simply supervise dogs. We provide professional care with purpose behind everything we do.
